Last week, Nov 18, PAWS hosted their 15th annual Fur Ball at the Drake Hotel. Are you wondering what this event is for? The Fur Ball is one of the many amazing fundraisers that PAWS, the city's NO-KILL shelter provides to reach their goal of a no-kill community. Last week over 700 animal lovers and their four legged friends enjoyed an evening of cocktails, dinner and auctions to support dogs and cats in our community. Based on PAWS' website, over 42,000 pets have been killed in our city in the last two decades, and atleast 10,000 pets were euthanized last year alone. The Furr Ball event is the most important fundraising events of the year to save the lives of homeless dogs and cats in Chicago. For more information about the Fur Ball see PAWS website Enjoy the below pictures from the event.

The weather is turning and summer dresses are being exchanged for winter jackets. Taking your dog out for a walk might be one of the few reasons to go outside on the chilliest of days!
There is one family though who does not have the privilege of walking their dog anymore, ever since their beloved Mac slipped out of his collar and came loose. Mac was last seen in the West Loop of Chicago and his family is still pursuing their search by posting flyers, going to shelters, filing lost dog reports, mailing postcards etc.. Mac also has a facebook page www.facebook.com/bringmacback If you have any information about Mac, contact Amy & Scott Rasmussen @ (312)515-0749 or swras@gmail.com Amy & Scott ask to not yell or chase after Mac if seen as he is shy. please try food. This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of visiting the Chicago Botanic Garden for the first time. Besides being a truly beautiful place, the presence of all the happy pups just made the experience that much better~
The pups are normally not allowed into the Botanic Gardens, but once a year they make an exception in order to have the Pooch Parade Competition! Oh boy were there some fantastic costumes, many home made and completely creative! What amazed me the most was how some dogs, who were part of the elaborate display on wheels were able to stay so still, it's like they knew they were being exhibited and played along for the crowd. See below some pictures from this marvelous day and if you want to go there youself next year.... or maybe participate in the competition, click here! |
